istation's reading-skills curriculum flourishes
thanks to Calvert K. Collins Family Foundation
It's called istation.
The
name may sound fanciful ... but the technology is making serious headway
in improving the reading skills of America's younger students.
For
the past several years, the Calvert K. Collins Family Foundation has
helped bring istation's exciting, Internet-based curriculum to schools
all across Texas.
The
istation
technology is unique in that it:
- features
a curriculum inspired by scientifically based reading skills research
- helps
instructors identify students who are at risk for reading failure
- provides
instruction on the computer that augments instruction in the classroom
- generates
a wealth of reports for instructors, administrators and parents
"If our
children and grandchildren are to enjoy the economic achievements of
our generation, they must be able to effectively compete in the global
marketplace," says Richard H. Collins, the Foundation's president. "But
that will only occur if they possess reading skills comparable to those
of their peers in other countries throughout the world."
"istation's
Internet-based curriculum increases the likelihood that all American
children will have world-class reading skills. That's why the Calvert
K. Collins Family Foundation has been happy to assist in increasing
the presence of istation's technology in Texas schools."
