"The disadvantage of men not knowing the past is that they do not know the present. History is a hill or high point of vantage, from which alone men see the town in which they live ... or the age in which they are living."

The Calvert K. Collins Family Foundation shares the philosophy of noted British writer G.K. Chesterton that those best prepared to lead in the future are those with a profound respect for the past.

To that end, fostering an appreciation for the great architecture that exists across Texas is one of the Foundation's top priorities.

The Foundation supports programs that restore historical buildings to their original luster, rejuvenate those buildings for a new use, or educate Texans as to the value of historical preservation.
